About your hosts

E-Bikes Florence has teamed up with the very lovely Galardi family from Poggiopiano Farm. You'll meet Mauro, Elisabetta and Martina, growers and producers of some of the finest Organic Chianti wine and EV Olive Oil in the region. They'll welcome you into their vineyard and olive grove estate to sample their produce, soak up the atmosphere and cool off in their wonderful outdoor pool. You can also visit their shop to buy wine and olive oil to take home in the bike panniers.

Who can attend

This route is great for everyone from grandchildren to grandparents, honeymooners, solo adventurers and groups of friends. The bike gives a lot of assistance physically, but you must be a regular or semi regular bike rider with a good level of biking ability going up and down hills to do this tour. Riders should be 145cm tall or more to ride our ebikes, but we have kid's seats for 1-7 year olds up to 20kg - please get in touch to reserve.

The Itinerary

Leaving from the shop in the centre of Florence you get out of town quickly on the cycle paths, where you will take the quiet back-roads and main road of the Mondiale cycle circuit up to visit the famous Etruscan town of Fiesole. There you can stop at the Piazza Mino da Fiesole for a coffee and take in the wonderful views of Florence from the monastery.

The route descends from Fiesole with great views of Florence from the hills to the North, winding through quiet cypress tree forests and past the castle Castello Di Vincigliata, leading you pasts sleepy villages and into the Chianti wine region to the East of Florence.

Cycling through the olive groves and vineyards you have the opportunity to stop in to meet the Galardi family at Poggiopiano Vineyard, where they sell a variety of their own Chianti wines and olive oils. There is a small menu for food there too and in summer the possibility of swimming in their outdoor swimming pool.

After your visit to the vineyard you ride the cycle path along the River Arno back into Florence and all the way to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo to end your day with breathtaking views of the Duomo and Florence's iconic skyline!

The total distance you cover is approximately 40km, made easy by the e-bike. We meet at the shop at between 9am and 11.30am and the route takes between 4 and 7 hours, depending how often you stop and what you to do from the itinerary. You have the bikes until around 18.00pm.
